Special Edition Thomas Flinn - Centenary Panel Saw Rosewood Handle 10 TPI
Thomas Flinn, the only remaining traditional hand saw maker in Sheffield, England, has been producing high-quality saws since 1923. Renowned for their professional-grade, western-style hand saws at reasonable prices, Thomas Flinn manufactures a wide range of products under prestigious names such as Pax, Lynx, William Greaves, and Dorchester. The Centenary collection represents the finest saws they’ve ever crafted. These are truly wonderful saws celebrating saw-making history and their 100 years in business.
Founded by Thomas Flinn in a small workshop in Sheffield’s industrial quarters, the business was passed to his apprentice, Frank Ellis, in 1936, bringing the Ellis family into its proud heritage. Reflecting their legacy, these saws feature a redrawn logo inspired by an original brass plate used in acid etching, a technique dating back to 1841. The updated logo is now laser-marked onto the blades, blending tradition with modern craftsmanship.
These saws feature a Rosewood handle, hand-finished with Danish oil, and adorned with celebration medallions. Traditional split nut screws and caps complete the classic design. The blades are taper ground with straight tooth lines and include a decorative nib, paying homage to how many saws were historically crafted, which some believe was primarily for aesthetic purposes.
At 10 TPI, this handsaw is best used for finish crosscutting. The saw is hand-sharpened before leaving the factory and can be re-sharpened.
