Roberts & Lee Parkstone Musical Saw Kits with Bow, Cleat and Rosin-20", 26" & 30"
The Parkstone Melody Saws are available in three sizes: 22″, 26″, and 30″. They are crafted from fully ground carbon steel 80, which offers the necessary flexibility for musical play. These saws, designed specifically for creating music, can be played using a bow while being held between the knees. Although they have teeth, they are not sharpened or set as they would be on a traditional woodcutting saw. Additionally, about 4 inches of teeth are removed from the lower end to prevent them from catching on clothing while playing.
Developed with the guidance of Charles Hindmarsh, known as the Yorkshire Musical Saw Player, this range caters to both beginners and advanced players with various budgets.
Here’s a breakdown of the sizes:
- 22″: A soprano saw, ideal for children or beginners.
- 26″: An alto saw with a range from A (below middle C) to top C. This is the top seller.
- 30″: A bass saw, capable of two and a half octaves, ranging from bottom F to top A.
The length of the saw influences the depth of sound produced. The 26″ and 30″ are teh most polular sizes and produce a good all-around sound, and are more flexible and easier to play.
26″ and 30″ are the most popular sizes as they are deemed to be a good all round sound and more flexible, so in some ways a little easier to play.
These kits contain the Beech Handled version Saw, Bow, Rosin and Cheat (handle that assists bending the saw) complete in a beautifully finished screen printed, fold up kraft box. Box can also then be used as storage for the saw too.
This musical saw kits make a unique and thoughtful gift for anyone with a musical inclination or those looking to try something new and different!
