Thomas Flinn 3 Foot One Man Timber Crosscut Saw-Champion Tooth

This one man crosscut saw comes with a champion tooth pattern which is a style of tooth pattern that has two almond shaped cutter teeth that cut the wood and two raker teeth that remove the wood waste as you push and pull the saw through the wood. The semi circular gullets also assist in clearing the waste wood. Having these variants on these saws leads to a much more efficient cutting. Champion tooth saws are well-suited for heavy sawing in hard, dry, or frozen wood. However, throughout history many have used these saws to cut soft and wet wood with good success.

These large saws are used mostly in forestry work and the crosscutting of large logs. But in recent years, these have been bought by people aiming to cut their own fire wood etc. They are a great alternative to chain saws in both a safety and for environmental concerns and can be used by anyone! 

The One Man Cross Cut Saw is 3 ft long with Champion Tooth pattern. The blade is made from special saw steel, specially tempered to hold an edge, yet easy to sharpen and maintain. It comes with a clear finished beech handle and comes complete with a beech axillary handle that can be mounted close to the handle extra leverage when working alone or at the far end “Two-Man” use.  Excellent for medium to large timber, as well as general purpose use. Sizing advice: For optimal performance, we recommend choosing a saw length that is double the diameter of the wood you're cutting. For example, if the log has a 2-foot diameter, a 4-foot saw would ensure you have enough stroke for efficient cutting.

Maintaince:  The large file (as seen on this page and on the sharpening page) is used for sharpening these items. Saw setters are too small for saws with teeth of this size.
