Narex Dowel Plates (both Imperial & Metric options available)
Narex has been crafting high-quality tools for over a century, and their first dowel plates appeared in their 1937 catalog. This modern Narex dowel plate allows you to create custom dowels from any wood, in any length. Start with square stock close to your desired diameter, round off the leading corners, and hammer it through the appropriate hole to achieve perfectly sized dowels.
For best results, remove material gradually, taking off no more than 1/32” to 1/16” per pass. The plate features machined holes with a slight taper on the underside, creating relief at the bottom while the sharp edges on top shear off corners cleanly.
Crafted from surface-ground A2 steel with a 0.290” thickness and hardened to HRC 61, this plate is capable of producing thousands of dowels before needing resharpening. When required, sharpening is simple—just lap the face.
Available in both imperial sizes (1/8” to 5/8”) and metric sizes (4mm to 16mm), the plate also includes two countersunk mounting holes for #10 screws.
