This is a well-made marking/cutting gauge that is an indispensable tool to use when laying out woodworking jointery. Head, adjustment knob and tail are all solid brass. Head is 1.625" (1-5/8") in diameter and can be micro adjusted with one hand using and 0.75" diameter knurled adjustment screw. Cutter size is 0.375" and is made from hardened steel and easily slices across wood grain, both with and against the grain. Cutter retraces into countersink in head to protect when not in use. Steel beam is 7" long by 5/16" in diameter, is hardened and has a groove milled along one edge to prevent head from rotating during fine adjustments. Comes with 2 replacement cutters.

    Well made, but no adjustment scale on the tool
    This marking gauge is very well made, but there is no scale on the tool to measure the distance from the edge of the stock to the marked line. For the price, I think there should be a measurement scale imprinted on the tool.

    Brass Adjustable Marking Tool
    It should last a lifetime but I would buy it again if I ever need one.
