This low-angle block plane is modeled after the classic Stanley No. 60-1/2, produced from 1902 to 1982. It became one of Stanley’s most popular block planes thanks to its compact size, comfortable fit in the hand, solid mass, low-angle blade, and adjustable mouth. These features make it ideal for chamfering edges, fitting joinery, adjusting doors and drawers, smoothing small surfaces, removing mill marks, shaping small components, and trimming end grain.

The adjustable mouth allows you to take heavier shavings when shaping or dial it down for ultra-fine shavings with minimal tear-out. The one-piece casting and 1/8" thick blade virtually eliminate chatter.

The body is made from ductile cast iron, and the sole and sides are precision-lapped flat along the plane’s full length. The sole is lapped flat to within 0.004". The front knob, lever cap, and depth-adjuster knob are all solid brass. The blade is made from O1 tool steel and is a full 1/8" thick. The blade will need final honing for optimal performance. Measuring 7" long by 1-3/4" wide and weighing 2 pounds, this plane offers the ideal balance of size and mass for a wide range of shop trimming and shaping tasks.
