    Absolutely superb plane
This is the first newer plane I've used -- before this I've only ever restored old planes. It took me about 45 minutes of setup out of the box before the plane was pulling tissue paper thin shavings from highly figured cherry. It's already become my favorite plane.A few notes:- The sole came slightly concave but the toe, heel and front of the mouth are almost dead flat, so it didn't need flattening at all.- The iron is weirdly beveled at 30 degrees not 25 degrees, so I sharpened it at 35 degrees and it's working well. Taylor Tools also told me that these are the updated irons with 60-62 HRC, and so far it's holding the edge very well.- The sides of the plane are not fully square to the sole. I don't plan on using it with a shooting board, so that doesn't bother me.Overall, I couldn't be happier with the plane.

The plane is a beautiful piece of equipment and i was very excited to get this but mine had a defect in the casting so the frog it not as solid as it should be. I have contacted the company and have not heard back from them yet so ???? I hope they send me another base and I can just switch the frog over
