SS Niles Bottle Stoppers Mandrel - for 1-1/4" x 8 TPI Lathe Headstocks, with 3/8" x 16 TPI Threaded Stud

This bottle stopper mandrel threads directly onto the lathe headstock spindle and features a unique tapered-cut flute design, making it an excellent self-tapping mandrel for woodturning projects.

The mandrel includes a 3/8″ x 16 TPI threaded stud, compatible with nearly all bottle stoppers on the market, as well as a wide range of other turning projects such as ice cream scoop handles, shaving brushes, pizza cutters, and more.

Constructed from hardened blackened steel, the mandrel is finished with a black oxide coating for improved rust resistance. The shoulder below the threaded stud measures 13/16″ in diameter, matching the top profile of standard bottle stoppers for consistent results.

This mandrel does not require a draw bar and installs directly onto 1-1/4″ x 8 TPI lathe headstocks. Two nylon spacers are included (one spare) to help prevent the workpiece from locking onto the mandrel during turning. Flats are machined into the body to allow easy removal using a 1-3/8″ wrench.
