Robert Sorby Sovereign 12" Handle and 2 Collets (3/8" & Flat Tang Collet)

This set includes the 16" Sovereign handle and 2 collets (SOV-C10 and SOVC13)

This 16" handle is equally at home providing added comfort when stretching to the bottom of long vases or adding that stability often required with many turning techniques. Its length provides that added leverage and additional support. This is the most popular Sovereign handle. Without a collet, this handle will work with 1/2” and 3/4” bowl gouges, and the extra long multi tip hollowing tool, otherwise, will need an appropriate collet adapter to interface with smaller diameter tools. 

The SOV-C10 presents with a 3/8" aperture making a fast hold for 1/4" bowl gouges and fingernail bowl gouges. It also matches 1/4" spindle gouges, fingernail spindle gouges and long and strong spindle gouges.

The SOV-CT ensures a firm fit for Sorby's flat tang tools. Tools that fit this collet include square end scrapers, hardwood scrapers, round nose scrapers, diamond/side scrapers, curved scrapers and box scrapers, oval and standard skews, the standard and fluted parting tools and the spindle and continental roughing gouges.

The Robert Sorby Sovereign System is a beautifully engineered and ergonomically designed interchangeable handle system that not only looks good but has the perfect feel and balance. The body of the handles are made from aluminum alloy and knurled to provide a nonslip grip. Its Softex nonslip grip provides excellent comfort and stability making it ideal for larger projects as well as the intricacies demanded of smaller ones. A range of accessories add to its versatility providing additional grip, steadiness, weight distribution, extended handle size and enormous tool choice. Four easily interchangeable collets allow for the majority of unhandled Robert Sorby tools to fit into this flexible system. Collets are available for tanged tools as well as those with 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" inch diameter shanks. Tools with a 5/8" shank don’t require a collet and fit directly into the handle. The Sovereign handles are available in three sizes (12", 16" and 22") and can be joined together to provide the woodturner with a variety of alternative handle lengths.
