These tools are sharpened with a with fingernail grind for increased flexibility allowing ‘pull’ cuts which avoid catching the lathe bed. The greater cutting area on the tip can be used for heavy profiling cuts as well as fine, delicate shearing cuts. Made from high speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. They will keep a sharpened edge about six times longer than carbon steel and resist "blued" softening from overheating during grinding or from heavy turning. Come with hard White Ash handles and brass ferrules.
