Robert Sorby 1/16" Micro Fluted Parting Tool

This parting tool has a flute running along the bottom edge, creating two sharp spurs at the cutting face. These sever the fibers to produce a burnished finish. The tapered profile also reduces the risk of binding in the cut. This very fine 1/16" wide parting tool limits the amount of material lost when parting off which is especially useful when turning small boxes from highly figured wood. Made from high speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. It will keep a sharpened edge about six times longer than carbon steel and resist "blued" softening from overheating during grinding or from heavy turning. Comes with hard White Ash handles and solid brass ferrule.
