Pinie European-style hand planes offer a simple, effective alternative to modern metal-bodied planes. These time-tested traditional designs are crafted using modern manufacturing techniques, resulting in a tool that delivers a noticeably smoother planing experience—thanks to their lightweight construction and the reduced friction of the wooden sole against the work surface.
The Pinie Jack Plane is ideal for smoothing, jointing, flattening, and trimming parts to final size. Being that a #5 is a "jack of all trades", meaning it's capable of handling a large variety of planing tasks. This plane includes a horn-shaped handle in place of a "knob", which allows for more balanced pressure applied across the length of the plane.
The PREMIUM body is crafted from European beech with a hornbeam sole, offering increased wear resistance and smoother gliding. It features a Norris-style adjuster, the cut depth can be adjusted by turning the brass knob, and can be laterally adjusted by moving the knob side-to-side. The wedge includes a brass screw for applying tension and securing the plane iron in the plane's body.

The blade bed angle is 45°, and by reversing the blade, the angle increases to 75°— a useful technique when working with extremely hard woods. Primary bevel is pre-sharpened at a 28° bevel. adjusted The blade will require initial flattening of the back and honing before use. This plane includes a chipbreaker.
Blade Options:
- EKO blades are made of carbon tool steel and all functional surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 58 HRC. A layer of transparent paint is used to protect against corrosion.
- STANDARD blades are made of carbon tool steel and ALL surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 58 HRC. A layer of transparent paint is used to protect against corrosion.
- PROFI blades are made of durable alloy tool steel and ALL surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 60 HRC. Oiled and hermetically sealed in a foil to create a barrier against rust.
