Pinie European-style hand planes offer a simple, effective alternative to modern metal-bodied planes. These time-tested traditional designs are crafted using modern manufacturing techniques, resulting in a tool that delivers a noticeably smoother planing experience—thanks to their lightweight construction and the reduced friction of the wooden sole against the work surface.

The Pinie Jointer Plane is used for edge-jointing and flattening the faces of larger surfaces. This plane includes a horn-shaped handle in place of a "knob", which allows for more balanced pressure applied across the length of the plane.

The CLASSIC body is crafted from European beech with a hornbeam sole, offering increased wear resistance and smoother gliding. It features a wedge-style blade adjustment that can be easily tuned with a few gentle taps of a mallet - tap the iron for a deeper cut, on the back of the plane body to retract, and on the top of the wedge to lock in your setting. This simple method is still used around the world and remains the preferred choice for many craftsmen over a mechanical adjuster. View instructions for more details.

The blade bed angle is 45°, and by reversing the blade, the angle
increases to 75°— a useful technique when working with extremely hard
woods. Primary bevel is pre-sharpened at a 28° bevel. adjusted The blade will require initial flattening of the back and honing before use. This plane includes a chipbreaker.

 Blade Options:

  • PROFI blades are made of durable alloy tool steel and ALL surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 60 HRC. Oiled and hermetically sealed in a foil to create a barrier against rust.
  • EKO blades are made of carbon tool steel and all functional surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 58 HRC. A layer of transparent paint is used to protect against corrosion.
  • STANDARD blades are made of carbon tool steel and ALL surfaces are finely ground to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.4 µm. Hardened and tempered to 58 HRC. A layer of transparent paint is used to protect against corrosion
Also available in a EKO style - made from European beech and a PREMIUM style - with a hornbeam sole and a Norris style adjuster.
