Arno 5 Piece Timber Framing Slick Set
These chisels are made from one solid piece of forged steel so can stand up to extreme abuse. They can be struck on the ends with a hammer and sustain no damage. They are hardened at the cutting edge to 58-60 HRc and left moderately hardened at the ends to minimize the danger of flying steel when struck. The handles cant up a few degrees from the back of the chisel allowing use as slicks. The handles are dipped in PVC coating. The cutting edge is ground and then sharpened on a felt wheel and ready to use without any touch up. These chisels are made by hand in small batches so the grinding may not always be absolutely perfect. They may have small slopes on the bevels and sometimes are not exactly perpendicular in their edge grinding. However, they are absolutely wonderful workman's chisels especially useful in timber framing work because of their length and robustness. These are the go to chisels to have when you want a good chisel that might get damaged in use in outdoor woodworking or general rough environments. Come with tip guards. Made in France.
