This bit is not just an accessory; it's an essential component of the MatchFit system that transforms your woodworking projects.
Why Choose Microjig's Relief Bit?
Superior Waste Removal: Imagine being able to remove 55% of waste material before even touching your dovetail router bit. The Microjig Relief Bit does just that, reducing the strain on your dovetail bit and router. This pre-routing step ensures that your dovetail bit can focus on delivering the precise, clean cuts you need for perfect dovetail grooves and tracks.
Precision at Your Fingertips: Setting the cutting depth accurately can be a challenge, but not with the Microjig Relief Bit. It features a laser-etched depth guide, allowing you to dial the cutting depth quickly and effortlessly. This ensures consistent results every time, giving you the confidence to tackle even the most detailed projects.
Silky Smooth Grooves: One of the common issues with routing dovetail grooves is tearout, which can ruin the surface finish and require additional sanding. The Microjig Relief Bit's built-in round-over feature smooths out the top shoulders of the groove, preventing tear-out and leaving you with a clean, professional finish.
Prolong Your Dovetail Bit's Life: By removing most of the waste material beforehand, the Microjig Relief Bit significantly reduces the stress on your dovetail bit. This not only improves the quality of your grooves but also extends the overall lifespan of your dovetail router bit, saving you time and money on replacements.
Versatile and Compatible: The Microjig Relief Bit is available in both sizes, whether using a 1/2" or 1/4" shank router, making it versatile for various woodworking projects. Its high-quality carbide construction with a 3-degree up shear ensures it performs excellently on a range of materials, including plywood and MDF.
Designed for Excellence: Every detail of the Microjig Relief Bit has been meticulously crafted to provide you with the best woodworking experience. The extra-wide shoulder reduces vibration and noise, enhancing the smoothness of your cuts. The carbide material is of superior quality, ensuring durability and long-lasting performance.
The Problem it Solves: Routing dovetail grooves without a relief bit can put undue stress on your router and dovetail bit, leading to quicker wear and tear and less precise cuts. By using the Microjig Relief Bit, you alleviate this stress, making the Dovetail Bit's job easier and more efficient.
Set to the Correct RPM: For optimal performance, set your router to 14-15,000 RPM and keep it moving to avoid excessive friction heat. This ensures a cleaner cut and prevents damage to both the relief bit and the dovetail bit.
Why You Need the MatchFit System: The MatchFit system is the most versatile and innovative work holding system. By incorporating the Relief Bit into your toolkit, you make it easier to create endless MatchFit jigs, fixtures, workbenches, sleds, and work holding projects. Unlock your creativity with a premium series of track clamps, track hardware, and router bits using a dovetail groove. One groove to rule them all and build a seamless worksholding system across your shop. Do it in record time using the MatchFit Relief Bit.

Good and bad
I purchased this set and the dovetail bit was good, but the relief bit burned up even before I finished the jig. The dovetail bit worked ok without a relief groove, but wouldn't recommend doing that for long. Just buy the dovetail bit and get a good relief bit from another brand
