Famag now offers their world-class Bormax Forstner bits with carbide tips, making the Bormax 3 series the ultimate in drilling performance. These bits drill flat-bottom holes and are ideal for use on domestic and exotic hardwoods, softwoods, MDF, plywood, solid surface materials, laminates, acrylics, phenolic, and PVC.

They are the first carbide-tipped Forstner bits designed for freehand drilling with a handheld drill—while also excelling in stationary drill press applications. When paired with extension shanks, they are perfect for deep hole drilling.

Features:

• Scoring teeth on the outer rim, the chip breaker cutting edge, and the center point are all tipped with micro-grain carbide, offering up to 10 times the life of standard hardened tool steel.
• Two scoring teeth on the outer rim are ground slightly longer than the chippers to score the hole’s perimeter before the chippers engage and clear the waste. This produces clean, chip-free entry and exit holes. Remaining scoring teeth feature a negative shear angle that reduces tearout, clears chips efficiently, and delivers a smoother finish.
• A modified head design with vertical channels improves chip ejection, ensures straighter holes, reduces friction, and prevents overheating.
• The main chipper cutting edge (what removes the majority of material from the hole) and center spur are ground from solid 3/32" carbide and extend the full width of the bit.
• All sizes feature hex shanks for superior power transfer that won’t slip in drill chucks. These bits perform equally well in drill presses and handheld or cordless drills.
• Bits include a baked-on black oxide finish that resists corrosion and residue build-up.
• Bit bodies are CNC-machined from high-quality German alloy tool steel to extremely precise tolerances.
