Clifton Adjustable Mouth Low Angle Block Plane with Cryo O1 Blade
This Clifton Adjustable Mouth Low Angle Block Plane aims to offer the ultimate in performance, comfort, and craftsmanship. Made from corrosion-resistant, high-quality bronze casting in Sheffield, UK, the sides and sole are accurately machined and ground. The inside of the body features Clifton’s signature graphite finish and logo. The lever cap is formed from thick brass, topped with walnut, and carefully shaped and sanded to perfectly fit the palm of your hand. The lever cap is tightened by turning a large, knurled solid-brass knob. The plane has substantial mass, weighing 2.1 pounds, and feels natural and comfortable to use. It excels at shaving end grain and tackling the trickiest woods with ease.
The 1-5/8" wide blade is seated at a 12° bed angle, combined with a 25° bevel for a total cutting angle of 37°. Made from 0.125" thick cryogenically treated O1 steel hardened to HRC 60-62, the blade holds a superior edge while remaining easy to sharpen. The adjustable mouth allows fine-tuning of the opening, accommodating anything from ultra-thin shavings to heavier cuts. The Norris-style adjuster provides precise micro-adjustments for both depth and lateral blade movement.
Replacement blades are available as backups or can be reground to a different angle for custom work.
