These bits are classified as a Combination Spurred Ship Auger Bits. They are 24" long and designed for deep drilling. They have a single flute, single cutting head with a single spur (the outer cutting edge that scores the outside of the hole). They cut very cleanly as the spur scores the outside edge of the hole before the cutter head clears material. The outside spur and can be damaged if it hits a nail. This bit cuts very fast due to the single flute design which provides efficient chip ejection. It is hand sharpened at the factory which also enhances cutting speed. This bit is not cast or forged but milled and ground from a solid round blank. The sharp lead screw is  also precision ground and machined allowing this bit to start immediately into wood once the drill is started. These machining processes produce a bit that is perfectly concentric with very little wobble. It will drill an accurate diameter hole, requiring less energy to power through wood and will create less heat. It will also drill straight and true through all types of wood with minimal wandering. This bit is made from high-carbon S55C steel specially designed for WoodOwl bits. The cutting head is fully induction hardened to 58 HRC. The flute has a phosphate coating (Parkerizing) to facilitate chip ejection and to protect from corrosion. This bit can be used in cordless or corded drills and hand braces. Bit comes in a plastic storage tube to protect it when not in use. This bit can be resharpened using a WoodOwl feather sharpening file. Available in the following sizes:
