Thomas Flinn - Saw Files
Vallorbe files, as used at the factory for hand sharpening saw teeth, are high-quality files made in Switzerland. These files are tried and tested by production for their recommendations on achieving good results.
The flat file, measuring 22mm wide by 4.5mm thick, is used for sharpening the gullets of the one-man crosscut saw (great American tooth pattern).
The large file is designed for larger toothed saws with four teeth per inch, such as rip saws and one and two-man crosscut saws. It is also recommended for sharpening the tooth part of the one-man crosscut saw, along with the flat file for the gullets and the Champion Tooth version.
The medium file is suitable for handsaws and large tenon saws with 5 1/2 to 10 teeth per inch.
The medium precision file is used in production for tenon saws with approximately 13-15 teeth per inch and has a much better precision edge.
The precision file is used for dovetail saws with 20 teeth per inch.
All files have a Beech handle included.
