In 2024 Narex celebrated their 105th anniversary since Mr. Vaclav Richter founded therir factory and started producing quality tools for woodworkers, originally under the brand RICHTER (R) EXTRA.

To celebrate this occasion Narex introduced a special anniversary set of their popular marking knives.

Their anniversary marking knives consist of solid stainless steel blades with finger indents and specially coloured and polished wooden scales made of figured maple wood. The scales are firmly attached to the blade by brass pins.

The knives within the set are 0,75 mm, 1,2 mm and 2,5 mm thick -thinner blades provide more precise markings, while thicker blades offer greater durability. The set of the three marking knives comes packaged in a luxury paper box with foam padding, and carries our original RICHTER (R) EXTRA logo.

These blades are made from AISI 420 corrosion resistant stainless steel and hardened and tempered to HRC 57. The blades are 1-7/8 inches long, 1/2 inch wide and come in 3 thicknesses, 0.030", 0.060" and 0.100 inch thick. Blades have a dual-bevel spear point tip. The tips are ground to 55 degrees with a 25-degree grind on both bevels. The bevels are precision ground on CNC machines. The laser cut finger indents are useful for applying pressure closer to the tip.The blades are the perfect tool to make marks in narrow recesses such as when transferring pins/tails marks during dovetailing. The dual bevels will mark distinct lines on both the right and left side of a part or guide. They will leave crisp lines when marking with and against the grain and on end grain. These knives may require just a light stropping to remove a small wire edge to get them razor sharp and ready to use. The handles are 3/8-inch-thick and made from figured dyed maple which have been hand sanded and polished. The scales are attached to the blade via two brass pins. The handles make the perfect size for a nimble yet stout marking knife. The square handle profile prevents these knives from rolling off the bench.
