Narex Dowel Plates (both Imperial & Metric options available)

Narex introduced their first dowel plates nearly 90 years ago, as seen in their 1937 catalog. This modern Narex dowel plate lets you create custom dowels from any wood and any length. Start with square stock close to your desired diameter, knock off the leading corners, and hammer it through the appropriate hole to achieve perfectly sized dowels. Remove material in steps, taking off no more than 1/32” to 1/16” per pass. The plate holes are machined with a slight taper on the underside to create a relief on the bottom and sharp edges on top that shear off corners. Made from surface-ground .290” thick A2 steel and hardened to HRC 61, this plate will produce thousands of dowels before dulling and can be resharpened by lapping the face. Available in imperial sizes (1/8” to 5/8”) and metric sizes (4mm to 16mm). Both versions feature two countersunk mounting holes for #10 screws.
