Thomas Flinn is the oldest remaining traditional hand saw maker in Sheffield, England. Thomas Flinn produces an extensive range of saws under famous traditional brands like Pax, Lynx, William Greaves and Dorchester. This saw is co-branded Lynx / Taytools. Thomas Flinn is known for making reasonably-priced, professional-quality western-style hand saws. This saw is made from world-renowned Sheffield allow spring steel. providing a good balance of edge durability and ease of sharpening. The saw plate is held straight and true by a thick, solid brass spine. The folded brass back means the blade is held under tension offering excellent rigidity and balance. The weight of the brass back aids the fine cutting ability of this saw. It comes with a handle made from stained European Beech and has brass button screws. The handle is attractive and comfortable in use. The 10" blade has a maximum depth of cut of 2-3/8". The 12" blade has a maximum depth cut of 3-1/8". The 14" blade has a macimum depth cut of 3-1/8". The 10" blade has 15 TPI, while the 12" and 14" have 13 TPI. These are filed for crosscutting making them perfect for cutting tenon cheeks. The saw is hand sharpened before leaving the factory and can be resharpened.

    Excellent value for the money
I bought this to complement my other joinery saws, which are all vintage tools. I'm very impressed. It cut very well out of the box and after I touched up the teeth, it just powers through whatever material I'm cutting. The weight and balance are just about right. My only issue is with the handle shape, but I'll be reshaping it to better fit my hand. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely be trying another back saw from this maker when I'm in the need for one.
