This digital readout is game changing for owners of a Dewalt planer. Getting an accurate thickness measurement using the onboard scale can be a challenge. With the addition of this digital read out you can accurately set your thickness with accuracy down to .001 inch. The digital readout allows you to quickly and accurately change thickness for each board. This eliminates the need to run all boards through each time a thickness needs to be adjusted. Just set it to the proper height and go.

Solid Product, terrible instructions.

Very well built and designed mount for the DRO, and ultimately easy to install after looking up videos on how to do so but the instructions provided are next to useless. Also disappointed additional double sided tape was not supplied.

Better with AC

This model is sturdier and much more convenient than the non-AC version. Directions are a bit unusual: a combination of great photos and poorly sequenced text. But, in 15 minutes, I had it up and working. The AC power means no dead batteries and you don't have to keep opening up the flimsy plastic tray which is even more difficult on the non-AC model. Get this one! Being able to plane a series of boards to a desired thickness, and then return later to repeat with more boards is wonderful.
