These spokeshaves are the most common pattern of spokeshave in use today. Both flat and round bottom models have two adjustable solid brass screws to easily and precisely set your depth of cut. The flat bottom version is for shaping straight or convex surfaces and the round bottom is for concave surfaces. Body is made from tough ductile cast iron and black coated. These spokeshaves are based on the Stanley and Record models 151 and 151R.

The irons are made of high carbon tool steel and hardened to 55-60 Rockwell C. The blades have been machined sharpened to 25 degrees. Honing is recommended before use.

I spent an hour and a half sharpening the blade and working on the chip breaker and tool body as I had high hopes for this spokeshave. The blade needed a lot of work as it was not even close to being flat. But the worse part of this tool is the chip breaker. The ears on the chip breaker do not come close to seating on the shoulders of the spokeshave; additionally when seated it is over 3/16 of an inch from the leading edge of the blade causing a lot of chatter with a very sharp blade. The mouth is way too open for a fine cut. The fit and finish looked good out of the box and the adjustment screws were fairly tight especially when compared to the Kunz spokeshave. If they retool the chip breaker it would be a decent spokeshave.

    Quick sharpen and working
After a quick sharpen, the spokeshave have worked as expected, and did a great job making an hammer handle. Excited to work more with the Spokeshave in the future.
