Working with hand tools is one of the great pleasures of woodworking, and to do this well, you need good tools. Melbourne Tool Company offers genuine, accurate, and accessible tools designed for the woodworker in you.

If you want to work wood, you will need a good block plane. The Melbourne Tool Company Low Angle Block Plane is the essential tool in your woodworking kit—a go-to tool for anyone who loves to work with wood.

Block planes are every woodworker’s best friend. Primarily designed for shaving end grain, completing touch-ups, and finish work, a block plane is a must-have in your kit. The three different blade types available make switching between the plane’s various applications a breeze. The easy blade adjustment and finely shaped cast body will make it hard for you to put this plane down.

Features:

M2 High-Speed Steel Blades offer high abrasion resistance, which increases the longevity of the edge, allowing for more time planing and less time sharpening.
Easy to adjust: precise depth and lateral adjustment with one knob. Twist to set the depth and slide side-to-side to skew the blade.
The plane mouth is fully adjustable, allowing for control over the thickness of the cut. Close the mouth to prevent tearout or open it up for thicker cuts.

I saw one of these in a friends shop, went home, and ordered immediately. I already owned a vintage Stanley, a veritas, and a Lie Nielsen. This was a bit longer and felt great in the hand. When received, I took it apart to get a good look, put it back together, and took the finest shaving I had seen in 50 years as a furniture maker. Wow
