Grobet 4" Fret Jeweler's Saw
Most fret saws suffer from 3 things: the frame is made from flimsy, low-quality steel preventing adequate blade tensioning, inadequate blade clamps causing blade slippage and undersized handles that are hard to grip. This Swiss made Grobet fret saw addresses all of these issues beautifully. The frame is made from 1/4" square stainless steel and will accept and hold a considerable amount of blade tension. The blade is tensioned by putting pressure on the sliding portion and then tightening the knurled tension screw with finger pressure. Once set, it will not move. The machined blade clamps grip the blade between an adjustable anvil screw and a knurled thumb screw. The hardened anvil screw can be adjusted to allow the blade to be perfectly centered in the blade hole. Once the thumb screw is set, there is no blade slippage. The plastic handle is 1" in diameter and 4" long and fits the hand well providing comfort and control. Depth of cut is 4". Accept standard 5" fret, scroll, jewelers or spiral blades size 7 and smaller. This Grobet fret saw is an excellent choice for removing the waste from dovetails and when performing detailed marquetry and scrollwork. It is also an excellent saw for jewelers. Saw comes standard with one dozen #7 skip tooth wood blades.
