Hamlet by Henry Taylor M42 HSS 3/4" Spindle Roughing Gouge
This M42 Spindle Roughing Gouge is used to rough shape uneven stock into a cylinder shape and to reduce square turning blanks to a round profile.
The blade is made from M42 High-Speed Steel, which is hardened and triple-tempered to enhance both performance and wear resistance, ensuring it stays sharper for a longer duration. This allows you to spend less time sharpening and more time turning. These tools come pre-sharpened and ready to use. The ergonomic handles are crafted from ash and feature red powder-coated solid brass ferrules.
Spindle roughing gouges are used for taking the corners off uneven and square stock, leaving it round and ready for further turning. They will also make initial shaping cuts removing waste quickly and efficiently. They are designed for between center spindle work and should never be used for bowl turning.
