Swann Morton Dovetail Marking Knife SM00
This Swann Morton craft knife is manufactured in Sheffield, England, to the same exacting standards as their world-famous range of surgical blades and handles. Swann Morton craft knives are used by both amateurs and professional craftsmen worldwide to perform delicate and precise cutting and marking tasks on a wide range of materials.
The handle is a fixed-blade two-piece cast metal epoxy coated handle that is comfortable to hold and will not roll off the bench. The handle is 4-3/4" long x 3/4" wide x 3/8" thick. Up to 5 blades can be conveniently stored inside the handle. The 0.025" thick double bevel blades are particularly suitable for woodworking, especially when marking out joinery and reaching into the inside corners of different types of dovetails. It can also mark shoulder lines for any conceivable type of joint.
The knife comes with five (5) extra blades. Blades are made from high carbon steel and come razor-sharp. The blades are 2-3/8” long by 3/8” wide by 0.025” thick. Blades are non-sterile and individually wrapped in protective paper. The extra blades are stored in a handy telescoping storage container with a hang hole. You can sharpen these blades if you like, but replacement blades can be purchased for a nominal cost. There is also a choice of four heavy-duty blades of different configurations: SM01, SM02, SM03, and SM04.
This marking knife is well-made, economical, and will make an excellent addition to any set of tools for a furniture maker or for general shop use.
