Taytools Cabinet Scraper Burnisher Ash Handle 3/8" x 4" High Carbon Steel Polished Rod HRC 62-64
A woodworker’s cabinet scraper is a simple, old-world tool that has numerous uses in the modern woodshop. A well-tuned cabinet scraper can remove glue, tame tearout, refine a finish, or put a glass-smooth finish on the most difficult to work wood. Creating a proper cabinet scraper edge (referred to as a hook or burr) is an essential skill to master that is best performed using a dedicated burnisher. Burnishers are tools with hardened, polished rods that form or “draw out” the steel from the scraper edge that is used to form the thin hook or cutting edge. This burnisher will create an excellent hook with minimal effort.
The handle is made from solid American White Ash and is patterned after an antique Holtzapffel Ornamental lathe turning tool. The handle fits the hand nicely while providing a firm grip and affording excellent control. The handle is 5-1/8 inches long, 1-1/4 inches diameter at the largest part and fitted with a solid brass ferrule. Overall length is 9-1/2 inches.
The hardened and polished high carbon steel rod is 3/8" diameter, 4" long and hardened to HRC 62-64. Overall length is 9-1/2".
This burnisher is an exceptional value and is 100% made in the USA
