French Super Hard Cabinet Scrapers 0.016" Thick Hrc 48-52
Cabinet scrapers are an invaluable tool in the woodshop for creating an exceptionally fine finish on wood regardless of grain direction or figure. They are also useful for removing traces of paint, varnish or distress marks on wood. Most scrapers available today are made from spring steel and are hardened to 38-42 HRc. These scrapers are made from French spring steel and are hardened to 48-52 HRc. This specification gives excellent edge retention while still allowing the “spring” or “flex” in the blade which gives the user control of the tool. This shaped scraper set contains the standard profiles needed to finish irregular profiles. These scrapers are sharpened by polishing the square edges and then drawing out a fine hook with a hardened burnisher.
The Gooseneck scraper (3" x 5") is used for awkward curves in moldings, where part of the outside curve of the Gooseneck scraper will be found to fit the desired radius.
The Convex/Concave scraper (2" x 5") can be used at either end to fit hollows and rounds or on spindles. It may also be used as a flat scraper along its parallel edges. The points at the concave end are ideal for scraping in narrow grooves.
The Rectangular scraper (2" x 6") is the standard item for flat surfaces, though (as with the Convex/Concave) it corners may also be used as scraping points.
All scrapers are 0.40mm (0.016") thick with superior "flex" and can be flexed to accommodate tighter profiles
